Skin Sensitivity is your skin’s ability to stay balanced when life happens. Sensitivity isn’t a “type.” It’s a pattern that can shift with stress, weather, products and sleep.

To understand sensitivity, Stella looks at six key signals. Together, they show how resilient or reactive your skin is right now — and how it may respond to new products or environmental changes.

1. Hydration

Hydration affects how plump, smooth and comfortable your skin looks and feels. When skin is well-hydrated, it reflects light evenly and fine lines soften. When hydration drops, skin can appear dull, tight or flaky, and lines can look more pronounced.

2. Surface Texture

Texture tells us how the skin is renewing itself. Smooth skin suggests a steady, healthy barrier. Rough or uneven texture can appear when the skin is stressed, dehydrated, or reacting to a product.

3. Redness & Inflammation Cues

Redness is one of the clearest signs of how your skin is feeling internally. We look not just at how red the skin appears, but where redness shows up and how it changes day to day. This helps identify your unique sensitivity patterns.

4. Surface Oil (Sebum)

Oil levels shift throughout the day. Stella measures visible surface oil in the moment to understand how your skin behaves in real life — not just what your “skin type” is on paper. This helps you know when to balance, not strip.

5. Visible Capillaries

Sometimes, tiny red thread-like lines appear on the skin’s surface. These are visible blood vessels. Tracking them over time helps us see how your skin responds to heat, sun, stress and skincare intensity.

6. Sensitivity Score

All of these signals are combined into a single Sensitivity Score. It’s not a judgment — it’s a guide.

  • A higher score means your skin may benefit from gentler, fragrance-free routines and slower introduction of active ingredients.
  • A lower score suggests your skin is more resilient and may tolerate actives with fewer adjustments.

Why This Matters

Knowing your sensitivity baseline gives you clarity before you make changes.

If your sensitivity is trending higher:

  • Soften your routine
  • Add barrier support
  • Reduce exfoliation

If your sensitivity is trending lower:

  • You may be ready to introduce a new product
  • Consistency is paying off
  • Your skin is becoming more resilient
